Alaska will be hosting the fifth annual “Experience Alaska” media reception in New York City, on Thursday, March 8, from 6-9 p.m. Held on the private terrace of the Bar Basque restaurant in Chelsea, the marketplace-style event will give journalists the opportunity to talk to Alaska businesses about story ideas.
This year’s event also will feature an Alaska food competition. Chefs from across the state, sponsored by Alaska businesses, will have the opportunity to show off their skills by cooking dishes featuring wild Alaska seafood and Alaska Grown products. The dishes will be judged by a surprise culinary host, and will give journalists the opportunity to sample the dishes.
The cost to participate is $1,500 for one representative and $750 for each additional representative. Sponsorship of an Alaskan chef to compete in the event and participate in the media opportunities will be $2,500. In addition, the giant (30 x 16.5 foot) HD format LED screen located across from and visible from the venue’s glass walls is open for sponsorship at a cost of $1,500. The sponsor can provide a silent video to be played throughout the event (ask for formatting specifics, looping available).
The registration cost secures a station in the marketplace, including a small table to display collateral or photos and several chairs. Thompson & Co. has reserved a block of rooms at a special group rate at a nearby hotel for partners.
