Growing the Market
For FY12 ATIA will use private dollars to generate awareness of Alaska as a world-class
destination, build interest in travel to Alaska, identify highly qualified prospect visitors
and connect them to Alaska businesses. This investment could not be possible without your
participation in ATIA.
Advocating for the Industry
Alaska’s economy relies on a healthy, diverse economy. In FY12 ATIA will advise the Alaska
Department of Commerce, Community and Economic Development on how best to direct
$12 million in public money appropriated for tourism marketing. We also continually work to
educate policy makers and the public regarding the importance of tourism to Alaska. As the
largest state tourism trade association in the US, ATIA’s 1,100+ members have strength in
numbers and need you to join the cause. Together we can continue to build a sustainable and
renewable industry for Alaskans.
Planning for the Future
A key part of our marketing and advocacy is looking forward 5, 10 or even 20 years. ATIA
continues to seek long-term tourism planning on a number of issues including development of
the south side of Denali, sustainable growth of independent and group travel, increased winter
tourism and long-term funding of Alaska’s Tourism Marketing program.
