International Marketing

The overall goal of the International Marketing program is to increase interest and travel to Alaska by targeting the primary market of Japan, German-speaking Europe, United Kingdom, Australia; and the secondary market of Korea.

Our international programs reach out to the highest potential international markets and provide image awareness, trip planning and product information. ATIA staff participates in shows and events to promote the state and works with overseas travel trade to develop or enhance existing Alaska tour itineraries and travel programs.

Central focus will be on education tour operators, wholesalers and commercial air carriers on what Alaska has to offer. By bringing Alaska tour suppliers together, we can increase the amount of Alaska product being promoted in key international markets.

Strategy 1:

Foster Alaska travel interest, provide planning information and act as a facilitator between Alaskan tour suppliers and International travel trade buyers within the following markets, as well as other international markets as the budget allows:

  • German Speaking Europe
  • Japan
  • Australia
  • United Kingdom
  • Korea

Strategy 2:

Generate image awareness in order to increase interest in Alaska as a travel destination among targeted international markets.

Strategy 3:

Collaborate with international air carriers to encourage and promote direct air service to Alaska.

Strategy 4:

Establish a monitoring mechanism to track return on investment on marketing programs conducted in overseas markets.
