ATIA to Move to New Home
The Alaska Travel Industry Association team is moving to a building at 610 E. 5th Avenue in downtown Anchorage.
ATIA leadership researched for many months reviewing Anchorage’s commercial real estate market before narrowing down a list of potential properties and presenting a proposal to the ATIA Board of Directors this spring.
“The ATIA Board had made finding a new and long-term home for ATIA a priority this year,” said Board Chair Scott Habberstad, with Alaska Airlines. “ATIA has been a voice for Alaska’s tourism industry since 1951 and through the purchase of this building we are making a smart investment and a commitment to our members that we will be around for another 50 years.”
ATIA's new office on 5th Avenue and Fairbanks Street is located in the Downtown Improvement District, a special assessment district created and funded by downtown property owners. The District is managed by Anchorage Downtown Partnership, Ltd. -- an ATIA member -- whose "Clean, Safe, and Vital" teams strive every day to assure a vibrant downtown.
"We are thrilled to welcome ATIA into the downtown community," says Chris Schutte, Director for Anchorage Downtown Partnership, Ltd. "ATIA and ADP have overlapping and mutually beneficial missions, and we look forward to working with our newest neighbors in the coming years."
“We are excited to make the move to downtown Anchorage. As our industry grows, this new home for ATIA makes us more visible and accessible to our members. One of the benefits we will be able to provide is new shared office and meeting space opportunities,” said Sarah Leonard, ATIA’s President and CEO.
Tourism is a consistent top industry in Alaska, providing steady employment and important economic benefits,” noted Leonard. “We are expecting modest increases in visitation this summer season which translates to our member businesses providing jobs to Alaskans, developing new tour products and contributing dollars back to communities.”
ATIA currently owns the building and will be permanently located there starting July 1st.
