The Alaska Travel Industry Association's Board of Directors urgently requests your participation in this year's Fly-In scheduled for March 25 - 27, 2008 in Juneau.
Marketing Committee Meeting - Tuesday, March 25th

Board of Directors Meeting - Thursday, March 27th
The primary purpose for this Fly-In is to urge the legislature to include funding for tourism marketing. We believe that new taxes, passed over the past few years, make it important for the state to fund a greater share of Alaska's destination marketing program.
ATIA is requesting the following "Survival" funding level for FY09:
$8M for Alaska's Core Marketing program
$1M for Targeted Marketing to Independent Travelers
We also have a proposal to change the Match requirement - that is HB 147. For more info on the bills important to our industry in this year's legislature please go to our "Pending Legislation" page.
Fly-in is an important opportunity to meet face-to-face with lawmakers and let them know the importance of the state's contribution to tourism marketing. It is an especially good opportunity for Alaskan small businesses to be heard.
In addition to appointments with lawmakers and their staffs on Wednesday, we will attend floor sessions and meet with other government leaders.
Your participation is very important - we need delegates from a variety of tourism backgrounds and businesses. We'd also like someone from every legislative district in Alaska. To make your trip more affordable, we have arranged for good hotel rates and Alaska Airlines' constituent fare makes travel affordable.

Registration:
To prepare our meeting facilities and make appointments we need you to register - the process is quick and easy - so please register by Wednesday, March 12th.
Transportation and Accommodations:
Alaska Airlines offers it's "Constituent Fare" and the Westmark Baranof Hotel is offering special rates for Fly-In attendees.
Preparation for Legislative Meetings:
We've prepared lots of information for you to use when meeting with legislators - facts, figures, statistics and talking points. But the most important thing is for you to tell the story of your business and how the state's participation is important to you. We'll also have a briefing Wednesday morning to help you be comfortable with the message we're giving the legislature.
Meeting Facilities:
The Marketing Committee and Board of Directors meetings locations will be announced shortly. Legislative Meetings will be held on the hill in legislative offices.
A March 26th Fly-in "pre-meeting briefing" will scheduled from 7:30 - 8:30 am (location TBD) for delegates to pick up their meeting materials and appointment schedules and to get tips from our lobbyists. After our day on the hill, we'll have a "de-brief" - also at a location TBD.
