Public Relations & Member Communications |

The overall goal of the Public Relations program is to generate large-scale image awareness and deliver Alaska's message in
an environment that is more credible than traditional advertising avenues.
Potential visitors often turn to their local newspaper, national magazines and television to discover new travel
opportunities. Utilizing a variety of methods, AlaskaTIA will strive to deliver a positive, visitor-friendly image of Alaska,
to promote the state as a year-round visitor destination and address travel barriers. Efforts will focus on generating stories
that address “how to get there” and “how to plan a trip.”
By educating the media about the variety of travel options and modes of transportation available, we will ensure all
segments of the visitor industry are represented. Emphasis will be placed on incorporating branding into all public relations
efforts by stressing the uniqueness, beauty and wide range of activities in Alaska, not only in the summer, but in shoulder
seasons and winter as well.
Our Communications Program also works to keep our members informed, educated and aware of important industry trends:
- We send out our "Member Newsletter" via e-mail every second Thursday and archive them for reference on our Member Newsletter page
- Keeping Alaska's visitors healthy as well as happy is an important job for everyone in the industry - that's why we've created a "Best Practices" page filled with Public Health information and recommendations culled from a variety of State, Federal and International sources
- We also maintain a "blog" of important news on our Daily Briefing
