House Bill 383 has been introduced in the Alaska Legislature!
House Bill 383 has been introduced in the Alaska Legislature! The bill, An Act establishing the Travel Alaska Board; relating to a tourism marketing assessment; and establishing a tourism marketing fund, creates the legislative framework for an Alaska Tourism Improvement District. HB 383 is a companion bill to Senate Bill 110, introduced with the support from Senator Costello last April through the Labor and Commerce Committee. The bill was developed, with the input of industry, in response to the Legislature’s 2017 mandate that “the tourism marketing board develop a plan to phase out reliance on unrestricted general funds for marketing, moving towards a self-sustaining program funded by industry.” Once the legislation passes, industry would vote on establishing a self-sustaining funding mechanism for statewide destination marketing.
