The Aurora Borealis season is here and Greatland Adventures is urgently looking to fill a part-time seasonal position (potential for full-time). The season is from September through mid-April. The right candidate would start training ASAP.
Greatland Adventures is a locally-owned, rapidly growing and fun tourism company. We achieved the honor of winning the Tour Operator of the year, Visit Anchorage Seymour Award in 2019; the award is given to the foremost community tourism organization for their excellence in product or service, contributing exceptionally to the visitor industry and enhancing Anchorage’s image as a visitor destination.
Tour Preparation: preparing all necessary gear & equipment prior to the tour.
Tour Communications: communicating evening forecast conditions to guests and arranging pick-up location & times prior to tour.
Transportation: driving guests in a large tour van to tour location(s). (CDL not required)
Team Collaboration: working with other team members to organize tour logistics and operations.
Guiding: Lead guiding Northern Lights Tours solo as well as working with other guides when necessary.
Photography: taking Northern Lights photographs and portraits of guests with provided DSLR cameras.
Interpretation: engaging and interacting with guests throughout the tour, providing tour narration and educational discussion of Northern Lights science and of Alaska
Our ideal candidates will have the following skills and abilities:
Knowledge and enthusiasm about the Aurora Borealis, astronomy, weather, and Alaska
Outdoor guiding experience in Alaska
Scouting and navigating to potential strategic locations at night to successfully view the Northern Lights
DSLR photography and post-production experience
Due to Alaska’s diverse and ever-changing space and earth weather, this position requires a diversity of professional skills including:
