Essential Duties • Media relations: press materials, interviews, pitches to media• Lead execution of the Social Media brand strategy• Ensure a unified PR approach in working within the company’s overall brand strategy• Manage a team of up to three employees• Hire contract photographers as needed• Blog content management• Manage corporate philanthropy and cruise donations• Serve as an active team member for the company’s evolving sustainability and eco-strategies• Press trip management: bloggers, influencers, staff writers, freelance• Fulfill media queries in a timely manner• Create and manage PR team’s general budget• Track and apply for awards; communicate awards internally and externally for maximum exposure and value• Collaborate with marketing team on campaign planning and synchronization• Prep executives for interviews• Manage crisis communications; act as company spokesperson• Cultivate and build relationships with key consumer and trade media • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the company’s products and operations and apply that knowledge in communications and the execution of deliverables• Collaborate with sales & marketing, operations, crew on ships and other departments as needed• Understand and adhere to brand voice • Other duties as necessaryQualifications• Bachelor’s Degree preferred; journalism, communications, marketing, English or other relevant degree or certification• Five or more years of experience working in communications or public relations• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; demonstrates effective listening through concise, clear verbal and written communication• Knowledge of writing for SEO; Know and use AP style• Prior management experience• Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment at a growing company • Embrace change, prioritize and move forward without skipping a beat• Comfortable with shifting deadlines, priorities and occasional travel• Strong time management skills; must have the ability to juggle multiple tasks and still meet deadlines• Highly organized• Exceptional problem-solving skills• Knowledge of the travel industry a plus, especially small ship cruising and/or adventure travel• Strong sense of ethics• Passion for nature, adventure, and travel a big plusPhysical DemandsTypical office environment. Position may require bending, climbing, reaching, repetitive motion, and lifting.Work Schedule Standard office hours: Monday-Friday 8a–5p. Occasional extended hours to meet deadlines.
