Nestled between mountains and the ocean, Seward Alaska serves as the gateway to Kenai Fjords National Park. Our small coastal community draws visitors from around the world seeking adventures big and small. Tourism, commercial fishing, and government are our leading industries.

Approximately three-quarters of Seward Chamber members are small businesses with fewer than five year-round employees. As the southern terminus of the Alaska Railroad, our community has a long history as one of the state’s most strategic ports.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong management skills, an understanding of membership organizations, a working knowledge of economic development, and experience advocating on behalf of stakeholder groups. The candidate must be able to work effectively with our 400+ members, elected officials, community leaders, and the general public.

The Executive Director is the chief administrative and executive officer of the Chamber and is responsible for day-to-day management of all Chamber functions. Areas of responsibility include mission and strategic planning, membership and community relations, financial and revenue management, legal compliance/administration & human resource management.

About you:

Qualified applicants will have had recent experience at a comparable organization, preferably a not for profit with a proven track-record of success; minimum 4-year degree in business, marketing, finance, non-profit management or related field (or equivalent experience) and 5 years’ experience in related field; local knowledge and enthusiasm related to promoting business development and visitation; and demonstrated experience with management of budgets and finances.
