Join ATIA for part one of our informational updates on Proposition 2. Today, we’ll hear from speakers Scott Kendall and Rachel Kallander of Alaskans for Better Elections.
A native of Cordova, Alaska, Rachel Kallander grew up commercial fishing and subsistence hunting in Prince William Sound and the northern Gulf of Alaska. Rachel holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Seattle University and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Washington’s School of Law where she focused on maritime law, natural resource law, and human rights law. Rachel founded Kallander & Associates LLC (K&A) and is the Founder & Executive Director of the Arctic Encounter – the largest annual Arctic policy and business convening in the United States. She works within the public policy, political, and private consulting arenas in Alaska, the Arctic, Washington D.C., the Pacific Northwest, and abroad.
Scott Kendall serves as Counsel to the Yes on 2 for Better Elections campaign. Scott is an attorney at Holmes Weddle & Barcott and most recently served as Chief of Staff to then-Governor Bill Walker. For decades, Scott has worked all across Alaska in a variety of legal, political, and consulting roles. His wife, Selena Hopkins-Kendall was born and raised in Fairbanks and together they raise their two children in Anchorage.
