DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:

  1. 2021, has proven to be a year of change and challenge. ATIA has advocated for increased funding for businesses and organizations impacted by COVID-19, increased access to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and rapid testing capabilities, transportation sector legislation, and destination marketing funds to bring visitors back to Alaska. Looking forward, what is the most important advocacy issue for tourism businesses in your region?
  2. As we move into the winter season and looking forward towards the 2022 summer season, continuing to promote Alaska as a safe travel destination requires all of us to work together. What types of forums, actions or policies should ATIA address to support industrywide safety protocols?
  3. In 2020, employment in the leisure and hospitality sector declined more than 40%. In 2021, many tourism businesses became greatly impacted by understaffing. How can ATIA support Alaska’s tourism workforce as we look toward recovery?
  1. Please also feel free to use this virtual time to discuss other topics you’d like to share with ATIA!
