Product & Operations Manager
Job Description
Oversees the procurement of services, allowing our sales team to create the best visitor experiences Alaska has to offer, and managing the team of professional Travel Designers, ensuring successful sale and delivery of private tours.
Product Accountability:
1. Contract with existing supplier partners
2. Research, vett, and qualifying new supplier partners
3. Oversee the accuracy of supplier service information and rates in our sales and reservation system
4. Design new itineraries to share on the company website or with wholesale trade partners
Operations Accountability:
1. Delegate the workload of the Travel Designers, balancing work to ensure Designers have the resources to deliver Alaska Private Touring quality service.
2. Review and approve reservation files and itineraries, offering recommendations for improvement as required
3. Review and approve all invoices created by Travel Designers
4. Audit supplier invoices for accuracy and correcting discrepancies, as needed, before handing them off to the accounting team
5. Supervise the Travel Design team, serving as the on-site resource for the team, measuring performance, developing skills, and communicating performance metrics regularly to the General Manager
6. Schedule Travel Design team to ensure customer service and support is optimized
Travel Designer Accountability:
1. Understand client needs and preferences, designing custom tour itineraries to meet the client’s style.
2. Coordinate with vendors to ensure accurate delivery of all products and services scheduled on client itineraries
3. Anticipate potential obstacles or challenges in an itinerary, proactively resolving any issues before they become a problem on tour
4. Communicate to clients to ensure clear expectations ensuring clients understand what is or is not possible on their tour
5. Identify and develop unique elements that make our client experience exceptional.
6. Utilize company software and resources to their fullest potential and contribute to maintaining the product database
7. Participate with the sales team in preparing itineraries and budgets for clients
8. Oversee the client reservations, including scheduling, contracting, and confirming each step on the itinerary to ensure a seamless travel experience
9. Create client travel documents, including itineraries, vouchers, and other documentation required to support the itinerary
10. Ensure after-hours client support is available, including taking company mobile phone as scheduled
MONTHLY SALARY: $5,000+ depending on experience
Qualifications Required:
1. Minimum four years of experience working in the travel industry
2. Excellent attention to detail
3. Strong verbal and written communication skills
4. Proven sales and customer service skills
5. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft computer programs, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
6. Process-oriented and analytical thinking skills
