Join the Frontier family! Frontier Tours is a small locally owned and operated business offering small group tours & sightseeing transportation based in Anchorage, Alaska. Get paid to explore south-central Alaska & share it with excited visitors! You must possess a sense of adventure, strong work ethic, passion for Alaska, and love of people. Driver Guides with Frontier Tours will be front row to seeing and sharing this part of Alaska with guests every day of the summer while sharing interesting & informative commentary.

We are looking for professional driving experience as well as tour guide experience. We operate 15 passenger vans, and if hired, you will undergo training & tour-shadowing, and then send you out on your own! We may periodically audit one of your tours to offer any help as you like and to ensure your driving & tour meets 5-star standards for guest experience. Tours include trips to the Mount Alyeska Tram, Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, an Alaska Husky sled dog kennel, Anchorage City Tours, and some private custom trips. Driver Guides must be willing to work hard to have fun, be safety-oriented, demonstrate patience & show hospitality to every visitor, as well as have strong interpersonal skills that focus on clear communication, storytelling, and in-depth destination knowledge.

Salary: $200 - $225/day

$1000 end-of-season BONUS pay is also possible. Amount is based on several factors such as:

-Safety & care of the vehicle (i.e. no accidents major or minor, no damage, cleanliness, etc.)

-Performance (5-star guest reviews, industry feedback from vendors & colleagues, etc.)

-Punctuality (being on time or early for guest pickup, time management on tour, etc.)

-Teamwork (demonstration to owner & vendors of competent communication, tour schedule management, guest communication, etc.)

This is a seasonal full-time job; 5 days a week, Saturday-Wednesday with Thursday-Friday off. Start date will be early to mid-May. Paid training is included in May, and you'll begin touring on your own in late May, no later than June 1. The core work months will be June-August. There may be opportunity to extend work through September. Additional time-off or adjustments to your schedule must be requested at least one month in advance.

-Must have a clean driving record

-Must live in Anchorage or Anchorage area during the summer and have reliable transportation to/from workplace.

-Must have stamina & alertness to drive & work full days, varying from 6-12 hours, interacting with small groups, often running 2 tours each day.

-Must be physically capable of walking/hiking 2+miles, climbing stairs, lifting 50+ pounds, etc.

Responsibilities may include but not be limited to:

• Inspecting & maintaining a safe & clean 15-passenger tour van

• Providing a safe driving experience

• Stocking the van daily with tour supplies (i.e. water, snacks, vouchers, signs, cleaning supplies, etc.)

• Providing commentary about the area using a driver headset while en route to tour activities

• Cleaning the interior & exterior of the van at the end of each tour/day

• Contacting & confirming one day in advance with each guest/party on your tour manifest details regarding the tour & pickup.

• Managing the time of each tour & its activities to ensure on-time departures and on-time returns

• Be organized with tour details & present a professional appearance to guests

• Be attentive to guest needs & interests to help accommodate them physically & mentally

• Be proficient with app-based technology; required for tour management, scheduling, manifests, tour & driving logs, etc.
