JOB TITLE: ATIA Sales Manager

OVERVIEW: The Alaska Travel Industry Association (ATIA) is Alaska’s only statewide trade association for the travel industry and represents over 600 members and businesses in Alaska tourism. ATIA promotes Alaska’s visitor industry as one of the state’s major economic forces and advocates for the growth of the industry, while remaining attentive to Alaska’s natural environment, diverse cultures, and unique quality of life. ATIA conducts advocacy, education, and administers the State of Alaska’s destination marketing program, Travel Alaska.

ATIA’s membership is the core of who we are, and this key position will provide consistent engagement with the industry we serve. The Sales Manager will be responsible for statewide promotion and sales of ATIA’s cooperative marketing programs and ATIA membership. The ATIA Sales Manager is responsible for retaining and/or enhancing current business relationships and creating new business sales within the travel and tourism industry. This position will share information about the ways ATIA’s programs can support their business by communicating about member benefits and marketing opportunities.

The ATIA team is comprised of nine dynamic individuals with a passion for the travel industry. Hospitality, enthusiasm, kindness, collaboration, and support are the core of our culture. We are looking for a team member to join us who has strong written/oral communication skills, proven sales management skills, and the ability to multi-task and work well under pressure. Prior experience in Alaska tourism is preferred, however not required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Drive revenue growth by managing and expanding a portfolio of tourism industry partners, focusing on both membership development and cooperative marketing program sales.

• Maintain and grow existing relationships while actively prospecting and acquiring new businesses across Alaska’s travel and tourism sector.

• Develop an understanding of ATIA’s destination marketing initiatives and effectively communicate the value of Travel Alaska cooperative marketing programs.

• Execute strategic sales outreach campaigns, including calls, email marketing, presentations, and industry engagement, to generate leads and convert prospects into members and program participants.

• Partner closely with the Membership Director to support member recruitment, onboarding, and retention efforts.

• Plan and implement targeted sales initiatives to increase participation in cooperative marketing programs and maximize partner investment.

• Build and sustain strong relationships with members and partners and provide ongoing support while identifying opportunities for upselling, cross-selling, and long-term engagement.

• Maintain accurate and organized records within the CMS and CRM systems to support sales activity tracking, reporting, and database integrity.

• Collaborate with marketing and internal teams to align sales strategies with campaigns, product offerings, and organizational priorities.

• Other duties as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• 2+ years of sales experience, preferably within a tourism, hospitality, destination marketing, or membership-based organization; or equivalent relevant experience.

• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously with strong time management, organization, and attention to detail.

• Demonstrated ability to build relationships, influence decision-making, and deliver recommendations to members and partners.

• Excellent oral communication skills and the ability to speak one-on-one or to groups, in person, virtually, and by phone.

• Working knowledge of Alaska’s travel and tourism industry or a clear interest in developing expertise combined with enthusiasm for promoting Alaska as a destination.

SALARY AND POSITION TYPE:

This is an exempt position and reports to the Membership Director. ATIA is open to flexible work schedules, including remote work. Some travel is required to Alaska communities outside of Anchorage.

Salary: $65,000 - $75,000 DOE
