McCarthy River Tours (MRTo), the leader in Single & Multi-Day River Trips and Glacier Hiking in McCarthy, Alaska & within Wrangell-St. Elias National Park is seeking entry level assistant guide/support staff for the 2023 summer season.

Job Description:

Entry Level Support/Assistant Guide

Our entry level position is designed for people who do not have previous commercial guiding experience. In Alaska, we have a lot of tasks and jobs that form the baseline of becoming an effective Alaskan Guide.

Most of the job entails, but is not limited to:

Driving shuttles, both in town and long distance

Shop Work

Cleaning & organizing

Repairing boating/glacier gear & equipment

Trip Preparation

Rigging & De-Rigging

Food preparation

Guiding -Glacier hikes, Lake kayak tours

Assistant day-raft guiding

Client interactions & community representation

Office/Shop Shifts

Selling trips to walk up customers

Greeting & signing-in guests

Ice Cream/Espresso Sales

Cleaning & organizing

Successful applicants will start in early June and will begin the season with a 10 day guide training period that includes technical skills, systems training and company orientation.
