Visitor Services Manager
Job Description
The Visitor Services Manager assists the Executive Director by carrying out tasks associated with the KVBs mission to promote Ketchikan as a visitor destination. Specifically, the Visitor Services Manager ensures visitor information facilities are operated to the highest standards and that knowledge of and information about Ketchikan tourism products and services is readily available to consumers, travel trade representatives, and community members.
QUALIFICATIONS
Oversees the operation of visitor information facilities, ensures cleanliness, equipment is in working order, and supplies are stocked as needed.
Serves as a primary information specialist and phone support, answers questions from tourists and travel trade (travel agents, tour operations) needing specialized assistance.
Initiates hiring, training, and scheduling of KVB’s seasonal visitor information clerks (VICs), for six months of the year (mid-April to mid-October).
Supervises seasonal operations (late April through October) in the KVB Tour Center, located at Berth 2.
Process requests for information received by the bureau, including managing the fulfillment of visitor guide requests.
Gathers information and prepares a variety of documents including annual cruise ship calendar and tourism statistics historical reports.
Assists in the development of budgets and monitors spending to adhere to budgeted allocation. Maintains and updates master information files on area attractions and services.
Coordinates with KVB staff to maintain adequate quantities of visitor guides and brochures in visitor information centers, and orders additional quantities as required.
Coordinates with visitor information center staff throughout Alaska and the Pacific NW to stock visitor guides from other communities and to keep supplies of Ketchikan material in stock at their facilities.
Promotes and updates KVB Language Bank.
Annually updates materials in manuals and files used by seasonal VICs and full-time KVB staff members.
Serves as lead visitor information clerk during the summer season. Ensures supplies and materials needed by VIC staff are available.
Perform opening and closing procedures of KVB (flags, lights, locks) when necessary. Performs other duties or projects as assigned.

Pleasant personality, ability to deal with people at all levels of contact. Enjoys office setting and working as part of a team.
Strong organizational and communications skills.
Demonstrate above average competency with computer programs such as Microsoft Office suite; understands content management systems for websites and information display systems
Licensed driver.
Will be required to sign a conflict of interest and confidentiality affidavits.
