Production Manager
Job Description
In accordance with the Visit Anchorage mission, this position works under the direct supervision of the Director of Marketing to develop, execute, and manage collateral production, advertising development, and traffic management.
This position is in support of the following organizational objectives:
Increase awareness, interest, and action to visit Anchorage
Engage visitors that best align with Anchorage and its product mix
Optimize visitor yield in summer by targeting more visitors with better experiences, longer stays, and investment
Improve seasonality with winter and shoulder season growth
Support improvement in resident quality of life
Improve perception of tourism in the community
Ensure the continued success of the Anchorage Convention Centers
Position travel as a leading economic generator for Anchorage and Visit Anchorage as a community leader
Essential Job Functions:
Take advantage of the latest research, technology and other leading-edge promotional methods to market Anchorage, including database marketing, e-mail, online advertising, and social media
Remain up-to-date on the latest technologies, design trends, and tourism industry research
Serve as a liaison between other Visit Anchorage staff/departments and external vendors
Manage and prioritize simultaneous projects with multiple vendors
Model the Visit Anchorage Core Values in the performance of all job functions
Collateral
With the support of agency contractors and internal staff, manage all aspects of design and production for signature publications including the Official Guide to Anchorage, Restaurant Guide, Meeting Planner Guide, Neighborhood Guide, Travel Trade Planner, and other collateral materials
Produce monthly events calendar and annual report
Create presentation and promotional templates, including PowerPoint presentations, profile sheets, postcards, and attendance promoters for use by sales and other departments
Develop promotional materials and signage for Visit Anchorage events (Seymour Awards Banquet, Winter Tourism Showcase, Frontline Tradeshow, etc.) as well as locally hosted meetings and events such as Alaska Federation of Natives (AFN)
Research and order promotional products that align with brand standards
Ensure accuracy of information and enforces Anchorage brand and style guidelines
Traffic Management
Manage all local, national, and international print and digital projects according to goals, budget, and timeline with an emphasis on efficiency and production flow
Utilize Basecamp or similar project management system for all print and digital marketing, advertising, promotion, and collateral projects including status, timing, and budget
Maintain accurate project records for timely reports
Manage vendor RFQs, RFPs, and final agreements for advertising and collateral projects according to internal policies and serve on review committees where requested
Photography & Video
Review third party photo and video asset submissions and maintain licensing agreements
Coordinate photo shoots in conjunction with specific collateral projects (such as the Restaurant Guide) or for broader promotional use by Visit Anchorage
Manage video production or licensing for marketing use
Advertising
In cooperation with the Director of Marketing, manage production of all local, in-state, national, and international advertising including print, email, digital, and video.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
Marketing, journalism, or project management degree and at least five years of tourism marketing or agency experience or equivalent combination of education and professional experience
Three or more years of vendor contract management experience
Advanced knowledge of convention and destination product
Advanced written communication skills to compose, edit and proof correspondence, proposals, sales projects, and reports
Ability to deal with internal and external audiences and provide excellent customer service
Ability to present ideas and to solve print, production, visual, and communication problems within a team environment
Ability to be creative and innovative
Working knowledge of print production, brand acknowledgment, web advertising, design, and advertising templates
Advanced computer skills with a major emphasis on procedure development and file management including working knowledge of MS Windows, Microsoft 365, Basecamp, Adobe Photoshop, Survey Monkey, e-communication software, Teams, Crowdriff (or similar), and Simpleview information and asset management software (or similar)
Familiarity with design programs such as InDesign, Illustrator is ideal
Ability to type 45 wpm with accuracy
Demonstrated effective time management skills, organizational skills, self-motivation, flexibility, and ability to manage multiple fast-moving projects with a high degree of collaboration
Ability to work independently and exercise discretion and independent judgment to administer sales and support to clients, and members
Ability to continually update skills due to pace with changes in technology and innovations

Position requires the ability to occasionally carry and lift luggage and promotional materials (approx. 50 lbs.), standing at events, assembling event displays and display area, and packing needed materials.
Work environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
